A hydroelectric power plant… in the heart of the city!

For a change, this 75 kW turbine hasn’t been installed along a mountain river or in the countryside, but right in an urban area — integrated into an irrigation canal in Salon-de-Provence, southern France

This region, rich in hydraulic infrastructure used for crop irrigation, is crisscrossed with canals and weirs that offer significant potential for renewable energy production. A great example of smart use of existing hydraulic heritage!
